Duckworth's proprietary Comet fabric is natural-technical mash-up, combining a fortified Montana-grown Merino Wool outer layer and a polyester inner layer. Why this combination? Polyester wicks sweat and moisture off your skin into the wool layer. Merino Wool gets warmer when wet, so the Men's Comet Crew will have you feeling dry and toasty even in the nastiest conditions. Duckworth customers have even worn Comet on expeditions in Antarctica and Alaska. The fabric is soft to the touch and looks sharp as a single layer at après ski in the lodge or in the truck between treks. Durable, anti-odor, moisture-wicking, quick-drying, and versatile, the Men's Comet Crew is your one-stop-shop Merino Wool baselayer. NEW SIZING, FIT & FABRIC INFORMATION: You spoke and we listened - following ample customer feedback, we've increased the front and back lengths on these top-performing Merino Wool base layer crews. Additionally, we've slightly increased the sleeve lengths. We've slightly adjusted the outer-layer material to include 6% nylon for the purpose of adding extra strength to the wool yarn, following feedback from our ranching team the outer layer would occasionally develop holes after rigorous use. The fabric also features a 315 GSM construction vs 275 GSM in year's past, for optimal warmth and weight in the colds of the American backcountry.

Cold gentle machine wash with like colors. Do not bleach. Dry flat or line dry only; do not tumble dry.

I like to hike in base layers. How strong is the wool against abrasive backpack rubbing?
These are definitely awesome layers to wear hiking/under a backpack! There may be some pilling, but the material should hold up well!
Is this shirt supposed to be worn close to the skin or loose? Im thinking close so the Polly can wick any moisture. Also do you know the shirt weight for say small or medium size.
It should have a closer fit, but it will still perform if you prefer it to be looser!
Can this item be dry cleaned or hand washed?
Hand washed is fine as well as machine wash on gentle, cold cycle
